Guy Fawkes´Night - November 5th

In 1605 Guy Fawkes and his co-conspirators attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament to kill king James I and the whole parliament.

The King was warnend and the conspirators were caught, capturaded and executed. The event is remembered with a bonfire, fireworks and the burning of an effigy of a Guy Fawkes.

People make guys with straw, old clothes and newspapers but before November, 5th, children use their guys to make money. They stand in the street, and shout: PENNY FOR THE GUY!

Then, they spend money on fireworks.

GUY FAWKES´ NIGHT CHANT

Remember, remember

The fifth of November

Gunpowder, treason and plot.

I see no reason

Why gunpowder and treason

Should ever be forgot.
