LEGEND OF VALVERDE
LONG TIME AGO,there was a village in the parish of Olveira: Valverde.
It was a rich village. But, people became greedy.
One day a woman with a child(Virgin Mary) appeared.She told the mayor:
-Something horrible is going to happen.But he told her:
-Leave the city! And she left, very very sad and very fast.
Suddenly a sand storm buried Valverde. Mary went on walking. An old man told her:
-Look at the city! She answered:
-I don´t want to see that! And at the moment she turned into stone in that place, Moldes.
Today you can see her petrified. It´s the Moldes stone cross, with the virgin looking at Pobra do Caramiñal.
